Ifremer
IFREMER is a French institute that undertakes research and expertises to advance knowledge, monitor the environment and foster the sustainable development of maritime activities. Linking with universities and research institutes, IFREMER contributes to national as well as to the European research landscape, producing basic knowledge and targeted results to provide answers to society’s questions. It is backing international and EU joint programming initiatives, maintaining the national fleet, observatories and databases. The research products and services serve to support the deployment of marine and maritime policies (WFD, MSFD, CFP, and national strategies). Based on its scientific expertise on marine litter, the institute is strongly involved in the design and the monitoring within MSFD.
