NIMRD
The National Institute for Marine Research and Development "Grigore Antipa" (NIMRD) is the leading marine research institution in Romania, as well as the technical operator of the national marine monitoring network. The institute has founded in 1970 and has modern laboratories with research equipment to international requirements for a wide range of research activities in the marine field. Its mission is to conduct interdisciplinary marine research in coastal seas, with special emphasis on the Black Sea. NIMRD has considerable experience in confronting the marine litter issue in the Black Sea and is the leading professional body for the implementation of the MSFD in Romania and preparation of the National Plan on Marine Litter Monitoring.
